Our Impact Why We Exist
The Victoria Foundation is a community foundation and a registered charity accredited by Imagine Canada. By connecting visionary donors with causes that truly matter, we're able to invest in people, projects and non-profit organizations that make our communities stronger – now and for the long-term. We've been doing so since 1936.
Our Story What We Do
Operating under the distinguished patronage of Her Honour, The Honourable Judith Guichon, OBC, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Victoria Foundation is a registered Canadian charity and the second oldest of Canada's 191 community foundations. We manage charitable gifts from donors whose generosity allows us to create permanent, income-earning funds, which are distributed in the areas the donors wish to support.
In doing so, the Victoria Foundation helps charitable organizations succeed in building community resources in Victoria and, increasingly, throughout British Columbia and Canada.
What inspires us, year after year, is the opportunity to make a difference in virtually every aspect of community life. We focus our granting around five key areas where we believe we can have the greatest impact:
- Arts, Culture and Heritage
- Community Services
- Health and Recreation
Our Programs How We Do It
Granting The Victoria Foundation has a long and valued history of helping, supporting and investing in our region. With our close connections to the non-profit sector, we provide insightful, effective grant distributions to improve the quality of life in our community.
In addition to supporting charitable organizations, the Victoria Foundation also works on a number of community initiatives that help to improve the understanding of important issues in our community and the best ways to address them.

What You Can Do
What will your legacy be? You can guide the future of your community and the causes you care about by making a legacy gift to the Victoria Foundation. We are a registered Canadian charity and the second oldest of Canada's 191 community foundations. Our endowment fund is one of this community's greatest strengths, allowing us to manage charitable gifts and bequests in perpetuity. This ensures that your legacy gift – of any size – grows and lives on, forever.
We continually build the fund and invest in our community, granting millions of dollars annually to a broad range of charitable organizations and worthy causes. If community matters to you, the Victoria Foundation is where you can make your priorities known.
