Bridges for Women Society

Bridges is a gutsy, innovative, heart-centered community agency. Our trauma-informed employment training and supportive programs inspire women affected by trauma, violence, abuse or neglect to reclaim their lives and build economic security. As the founder of the Bridging Employment Services Model, Bridges draws on its research and expertise in the impacts of abuse on employability to provide education, training and consulting to community agencies, partners, employers and governments.

Our Impact Why We Exist

Bridges exists so that every woman affected by trauma, violence, abuse or neglect will have the resilience and economic security to support herself and her family, to thrive in safety, wellness and empowerment.

With our award winning Employability Programs Bridges supports women though counseling and practical hands-on classroom studies, to bring them to a place of employability & economic security.

Our Story What We Do

Bridges for Women was established in Victoria in 1988 as an employment training program for women with a history of trauma and abuse.

Bridges is a vision realized. We often encounter graduates of Bridges whose lives have been changed by Bridges and who credit Bridges for supporting them to make positive changes in their lives.

The women who work at Bridges, serve on Board of Directors of the Bridges for Women Society and are its members, all play a vital role in making sure that the heart of Bridges keeps on beating. This community of women and other supporters is essential so that Bridges continues to serve women long into the future.

Our Programs How We Do It

The Bridges Employment Program provides an opportunity for participants to work on personal development, career and education planning communication skills, conflict resolution skills and more.

Students also work on pre-employment and job readiness skills, in preparation for job search. This unique program supports women to move forward, addressing impacts of trauma on employability and laying a strong foundation for personal and financial independence.
