Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre Society
Our Impact Why We Exist
Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre believes in the necessity of maintaining, and building upon, the cultural environment of its community. As such, it seeks to position itself between the mandates and performance schedules of the existing professional and community theatres in the City of Victoria. By doing so, it seeks to contribute to the diversity of Victoria’s dynamic cultural fabric.
Over the first six years Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre has offered over 200 opportunities to young artists who have emerged, or, are about to emerge, from professional training institutions from Victoria, BC's and Canada's training institutions. Offering what is often the first professional experience to those students graduating from such training institutions as the University of Victoria, the Canadian College of Performing Arts, Malaspina College and all the theatre training centres in BC and beyond has become our passion. Linking the talents of one generation of theatre artists to those of a new one is what we are here to do — and we pride ourselves on our ability to carry out this aspect of our mandate in a manner equal to much larger and more established theatres across Canada.
Our Story What We Do
Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre is a professional non-profit theatre society that seeks to provide:
- Significant creative, production and management opportunities to young theatre artists wishing to pursue a career in the arts.
- The opportunity for emerging artists to play major roles alongside of some of Canada's most respected and established theatre artists.
- The people of Victoria its own professional theatre company that focuses on masterworks drawn from the classical and modern European and North American theatre traditions.
"This is very exciting news" - Atom Egoyan, film, theatre and opera director
"the most important development in the Victoria arts scene in decades" - Adrian Chamberlain, Victoria Times' Colonist
"as good as any work you will see on any stage in Canada" - David Lennam
Our Programs How We Do It
Each year Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre produces 5 main stage plays ranging from classic Shakespeare to modern adaptations of timeless tales. Each play is chosen to allow casting of both young and experienced actors, directors and designers. Since making The Roxy our home, we have also been able to offer space for local arts and community groups to present their own productions. The Roxy has been a venue for music, dance, film and live performances.

What You Can Do
Starting something as ambitious as Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre is not a one person effort. This project requires the support of many individuals, businesses and the community at large. For the past six seasons, we have been very fortunate to gain the support of several government, corporate and community institutions and more than 200 hundred individual donors on an annual basis. Thanks to you all!
We've enjoyed a strong beginning but we need your help to continue and to build our vision for a world class professional theatre company. We need you to help in our efforts to have young theatre artists prosper and grow in our city. Financial support is both necessary and welcome but the dedication of one’s time, energy and talents to this exciting new theatre company is equally important. We urge you to consider strengthening the Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre idea by dedicating your time, skills, imagination or financial support.
